Q&A With Jassim

-    Where are you from?

Muscat, Oman

-    What is the best city for music in the world?

Bristol or Havanna

-    When did you first start making music?

When I was 17 I started making acoustic music and transitioned to electronic at the age of 24.

-    What is your favourite/most used DAW? Why?

I like Apple's Logic mainly due to it being the main DAW that I have studied and used. It is very intuitive and I like the layout.

I would like to learn how to use something like Renoise.

-    Who are your favourite artists and who inspired you the most to pursue your music studies and career?

Favorite electronic artists are Mike Paradinas, Plaid, Del Dot, AFX, and Ochre (to name just a few)

-    How long have you been studying music production? Which courses at LSS did you take?

1 year studying and 3 years practicing. I took 3 modules at the London School of Sound: MP101 which is the Music Production 101 module including the Apple Certified Logic Pro Level One training; MP181 which is a course on Sound Design & Synthesis, as well as MP151 Structure, Form & Creativity which focuses on creativity and songwriting.

-    Why did you pick LSS?

Cause it seemed to offer a more hands on approach to music production.

-    What tune do you simply wish you wrote?

Within A Sound by Mu ziq

Fer by Plaid

-    What happened after your time at LSS?

I started working as a sound designer and recordist for student films and built my way up to corporate jobs and low budget feature films.

-    What advice would you give prospective students interested in starting studying music or music production?

Learn from the pros at LSS ;)
