They're making what?

Prepare yourselves for the sound of hundreds of people saying "well, why don't you just do it for real?", with the release of DJ Hero from Activision. Before you totally dismiss it, it's got Jay-Z and Eminem involved, and you know it'll be fun.

That too serious for you? Then how does Lego Rock Band sound? (Yes, it's for real....)

  2. Seriously, everyone in the world is crazy. Guitar Hero sucks, and DJ hero looks like something that is going to suck even more. The only thing that sucks more than these games is a vacuum cleaner.

How can it be fun to hit buttons when the screen says so? Surely in a game of Mortal Kombat you are also hitting buttons reacting to what is on the screen, but there is some sense of purpose, the illusion that someone is fighting you. 'Whatever-Hero' is just enjoyment through obedience.

And what do you get as a reward for not missing a beat? You get to listen to a preset mix of two songs that have nothing to do with each other except that they have been beatmatched for you; and you can believe that you are playing it since you can have the freedom of choice of listening to one OR the other OR both together (and annoy the shit out of anyone else by adding a bit of unnecessary scratch, I would imagine).

Mashups - a bit like, do you like movies but you get bored when they start talking or there are no explosions for more than five minutes? Don't get a headache trying to follow a storyline: make your own shorts with Actor Hero, selecting only the best scenes and adding special visual effects (if Activision releases this game I want some money; then I will kill myself).
